About WISE

An international online competition where students from primary school to university present science, engineering and innovation projects to an expert jury.

Why WISE exists

Every year thousands of students build something remarkable: a low-cost air-quality monitor, a cheaper water filter, a robot that sorts waste for recycling. Most of these projects are seen by a teacher and a few classmates. WISE gives them an international jury and a certificate that can be verified anywhere in the world.

What we believe

  • Curiosity has no age limit. A nine-year-old's careful experiment deserves the same respect as a university prototype, so every division is judged on its own.
  • Feedback is part of the prize. Every team receives its score and written comments from the jury, not just a ranking.
  • Science is international. Students from any country can take part online, without travel costs.
  • Fair judging is non-negotiable. Projects are judged anonymously by at least two judges, with a third judge when their scores differ widely.

Organizer

WISE is organized by the WISE Organizing Committee, a team of teachers, researchers and engineers who coach students for national and international science fairs.
